Spoleto Festival Orchestra Concert

sottile-theater-150We’re in the Sottile Theater of the College of Charleston for a concert by the Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra with conductor Stefan Asbury from the 2013 season. The program has two familiar masterworks serving as bookends – the Rimsky-Korsakov Capriccio espagnol as an opener and the Rachmaninoff Symphonic Dances to close the concert – and in between a suite of ballet music from the Hungarian composer, Bela Bartok. All three works serve as ideal showpieces for the abilities of this ensemble.
