South Carolina Philharmonic Masterworks V: “Eternal Love”

cl-WEB-South-Carolina-Philharmonic-300The Palmetto State’s orchestra takes on a monumental symphony by Gustav Mahler filled with the composer’s characteristic angst and spirituality. The scale and psychological tone of the Mahler are in marked contrast to the works at the start of the program: the heroic overture to Wagner’s only comic opera and a typically effervescent waltz by Johann Strauss, Jr.
